Image to STL Converter

Create a full 3D mesh from one image, inspect the reconstructed object, and export it as STL. Unlike a simple relief converter, AI estimates depth and hidden surfaces around the subject.

From flat image to STL geometry

An STL contains triangles in three-dimensional space; a photo only contains pixels. This image to STL converter bridges that gap by reconstructing a GLB mesh first, then stripping the rendered scene down to geometry for STL export.

Because unseen surfaces are estimated, the result is ideal for figurines, props, concept models, and visual prototypes. It is not a replacement for CAD when exact dimensions, tolerances, or mechanically mating parts matter.

Full object or raised relief?

Choose this AI workflow when you need an object that can be viewed from multiple angles. For coins, signs, lithophanes, stamps, and plaques, the free PNG to STL heightmap is often more predictable because pixel brightness maps directly to height.

Vector artwork has another deterministic path: SVG to STL extrudes the visible vector silhouette without AI. Choosing the right conversion method saves both credits and cleanup time.

Prepare the STL for printing

The downloaded STL has no unit metadata, texture, or color. Import it into Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, Blender, or your preferred repair workflow and set the intended physical scale.

Run manifold and wall-thickness checks, orient the part, inspect fine features, and add supports where needed. Premium can improve visual detail, but it cannot infer engineering constraints that are absent from the source image.

Transparent credit pricing

Standard costs one credit and Premium costs four. New accounts receive two one-time signup previews that can be used only on Standard. There is no anonymous generation and nothing replenishes each day.

The system reserves access before starting the model. If the provider fails or the returned GLB is invalid, the reserved access is returned automatically. Exporting the successful GLB to STL does not cost an additional credit.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert a single image to STL?add

Yes. The AI first reconstructs a complete 3D GLB from the image, then SVG Genie exports its mesh as STL. Surfaces hidden in the source image are inferred, not measured.

Is the STL ready to 3D print?add

It is a valid STL export, but AI-generated meshes are not guaranteed to be print-ready. Inspect scale, wall thickness, overhangs, manifold geometry, and supports in a slicer or mesh-repair tool before printing.

Should I use Image to STL or PNG to STL?add

Use Image to STL when you want AI to infer a full object. Use PNG to STL for a predictable raised relief or lithophane based on pixel brightness. PNG to STL runs locally and is free.

How much does Image to STL cost?add

Standard reconstruction costs 1 credit and can use a remaining signup preview. Premium reconstruction costs 4 purchased credits. STL export from a completed model costs nothing extra.

Which images work best?add

Use one sharply focused object with clean edges and minimal background clutter. A three-quarter view reveals more depth than a perfectly front-facing photo.

Does STL preserve colors and textures?add

No. STL stores surface triangles but not modern PBR materials or textures. Download the GLB as well if you need the generated appearance.
