Frequently asked

How do I convert an AI file to SVG?

Upload the .ai file. SVG Genie detects PDF-compatible or legacy PostScript Illustrator data, converts it in an isolated Inkscape worker, validates the resulting SVG, and returns a download.

Which Illustrator files are supported?

PDF-compatible Illustrator files and older PostScript-based AI files are supported. If the file contains only Adobe's proprietary editing data, resave it with Create PDF Compatible File enabled.

Are Illustrator layers preserved?

Some groups and clipping structures can survive, but SVG and AI do not have identical layer and effect models. Text is converted to paths for portability, and Illustrator-only effects may be approximated.

Is this AI image generation?

No. Here .ai means the Adobe Illustrator file format. The converter preserves existing vector data when possible; it does not generate or retrace the artwork with an AI model.

Is my file stored?

No. Each upload is processed in a short-lived, network-isolated job and its temporary files are deleted immediately after the response.
