Introducing SVG Genie for Figma: AI Vector Generation Inside Your Design Tool
We're excited to announce that SVG Genie is now available as a Figma plugin. Generate AI-powered SVG graphics directly inside Figma without ever leaving your design file.
Why a Figma Plugin?
Designers told us their biggest frustration: context switching. Every time you need a custom graphic, you have to:
- Leave Figma
- Open another tool
- Generate or create the graphic
- Export it
- Import it back into Figma
- Position and adjust it
That's a lot of friction for something that should be instant.
With the SVG Genie Figma plugin, the entire process becomes:
- Describe what you want
- Click generate
- Done — it's on your canvas
Key Features
Direct Canvas Insertion
Generated SVGs appear directly on your Figma canvas as editable vector groups. No importing, no file management, no hassle. The vectors are fully editable — adjust colors, modify paths, or break them apart as needed.
All Generation Modes
The plugin includes multiple generation modes:
- Standard — Fast, versatile generation (~15 seconds)
- PRO HD — Higher resolution with more detail (~1 minute)
Try our new PRO HD mode for even better vectors with enhanced clarity and precision.
Synced with Your Account
The plugin uses your existing SVG Genie credits. Whether you generate from Figma or the web app, everything stays in sync. You can see your remaining credits right in the plugin interface.
Secure Token Authentication
We designed the plugin with security in mind. Instead of storing your password, the plugin uses secure API tokens that you generate from your SVG Genie dashboard. Tokens can be revoked at any time, and your credentials never leave your browser.
How to Get Started
Step 1: Install the Plugin
Find SVG Genie on the Figma Community and click "Try it out" or save it to your plugins.
Step 2: Create an Account (if you haven't)
If you're new to SVG Genie, sign up for a free account. You'll get 2 free generations to try the plugin — no credit card required.
Step 3: Generate Your API Token
Visit the Figma Token page in your SVG Genie dashboard to generate a secure API token. Copy it to your clipboard.
Step 4: Connect the Plugin
Open the plugin in Figma, paste your token, and click "Save Token". You're connected!
Step 5: Start Creating
Type a prompt describing what you want, select your preferred style, and click "Generate SVG". The graphic will appear on your canvas ready to use.
Perfect For
Rapid Prototyping
When wireframing or building prototypes, you often need placeholder graphics that are better than generic shapes but don't warrant hours of custom work. The plugin lets you generate contextually relevant graphics in seconds.
Design Exploration
Exploring different visual directions? Generate multiple variations quickly without leaving your file. Try different prompts and styles to find the perfect aesthetic for your project.
Icon Sets
Need a custom icon that matches your design system? Generate icons that fit your aesthetic rather than settling for whatever you can find in a library.
Presentation Graphics
Building a pitch deck or presentation in Figma? Generate unique illustrations that make your slides stand out.
Technical Details
The plugin communicates securely with SVG Genie's API over HTTPS. Generated SVGs are true vector graphics with clean, optimized paths. They're inserted as Figma vector groups, meaning you can:
- Ungroup and edit individual paths
- Change fill and stroke colors
- Apply effects and constraints
- Use in components and variants
What's Next
This is version 1.0, and we're already working on enhancements based on early feedback:
- History of recent generations
- Favorite prompts
- Batch generation for multiple variations
- Style presets and custom templates
